The below changes, which will see other improvements to the overall bus network in and around Bristol, are part of a bi-annual review of routes, and will come into effect from Sunday 3rd September.

Route Changes
Service 1 Cribbs Causeway – Bristol City Centre – Broomhill

Service 48a Bristol City Centre – UWE Frenchay
Extra journeys will operate on service 48a during busy times, to reflect the new academic year at the University of West of England. Please check the timetable carefully as extra journeys have been focused around specific busy times.

Service 49 Bristol City Centre – Staple Hill – Emersons Green
Revised timetable and one journey is changed from a short 49 to an X49 (see below).

Service X49 Staple Hill – Bristol City Centre
New service operating 3 express AM journeys from Staple Hill to the City Centre via the M32. This will provide a fast morning service into the City Centre during the morning peak, making use of the M32 bus lane.

Service 70 Hengrove – Bristol City Centre – UWE Frenchay
Service 70 will combine with the 90 to create a new Bristol cross-city connection between UWE Frenchay, Filton Avenue, the City Centre, Bedminster and Hengrove (numbered 70). In the city centre, the route will be via Stokes Croft, The Haymarket, The Centre, Broad Quay, Prince Street, The Grove, Redcliffe Bascule Bridge, Redcliff Hill and Bedminster Parade. In the Hengrove area, the route will operate in both directions via Melvin Square, Illminster Avenue, Salcombe Road, Throgmorton Road, Creswicke Road, Hengrove Way and Roman Farm Road to and from Hengrove Depot. Buses from the City Centre towards Hengrove will now be increased to run around every 30 minutes during Monday – Saturday evenings instead of around hourly. The 70 will no longer serve Temple Meads Station however the 74 will be extended to Temple Meads in its place (please see below). The long-term diversion via the top end of Ashley Down Road will continue while Ralph Road remains closed.

Service 73 Whitchurch - Bristol City Centre – Bradley Stoke/Aztec West
Service 73 will combine with the 92 to create a new Bristol cross-city connection between Whitchurch, Wells Road, the City Centre, Gloucester Road, Filton Avenue, Bristol Parkway and Bradley Stoke. In the city centre, the route will be via Stokes Croft, The Haymarket, The Centre, Broad Quay, Prince Street, The Grove, Redcliffe Bascule Bridge, Redcliffe Way and Temple Gate to Wells Road. The 73 will no longer stop on the station approach ramp at Temple Meads but instead use the main road stops at the bottom of the ramp. At Whitchurch, the 73 will terminate at Belland Drive rather than running to and from Hengrove Park. On Sundays and Public Holidays, buses will be increased to run every 30 minutes on the Whitchurch to City Centre section compared to the current hourly service. At Bradley Stoke, some off-peak journeys will be extended to Aztec West (Approach Road), running via Woodlands Lane and stopping at Woodlands Park, following customer requests.

Service 74 Bristol Temple Meads – City Centre – UWE Frenchay
The 74 will have a revised timetable to improve punctuality, and will be extended to and from Temple Meads Station forecourt. It will no longer serve bus stop C9 or C11 in the City Centre, instead matching to services 70, 73, 75 and 76 in stopping at Rupert Street/Christmas Steps and Broad Quay.

Service m1 metrobus Hengrove Park – Bristol City Centre – Cribbs Causeway
Service m1 will have the frequency improved. Buses during Monday – Friday peak times will run every 10 minutes rather than every 12 minutes, and at off-peak times every 12 minutes instead of every 15 minutes. Evening buses on Monday – Saturday will be increased to run around every 20 minutes. New early morning journeys will run on Monday – Saturdays, with buses departing each end of the route at 5.30am.

Punctuality based changes on all days of operation and to take account expected completion of roadworks.

Services m3 and m3x metrobus Emersons Green – Bristol City Centre
An extra m3x journey will operate in the weekday afternoons from the City Centre, at 16.35.
Punctuality based changes on all days of operation. Most departure times are kept the same where possible but there are some changes, particularly in the evenings. The last bus to Emersons Green on Monday - Saturdays will now be at 22:35 instead of 22:00, and evening times are adjusted to better fit in with the m1 over the common section of route to avoid overcrowding.

Service m4 metrobus Cribbs Causeway – Bristol City Centre
Revised timetable with some journeys speed up to avoid excess slack in the timetable. Evening times altered to better fit in with service m1 on the common section of route to avoid overcrowding.

Service OS1 Hanham – Oldfield School
One of the morning trips will start from Longwell Green The Crown instead of Hanham.

Service U2 Bristol City Centre – University of Bristol – Langford Veterinary School
The hours of operation of service U2 will be increased, with buses now running during the evening. The last bus will run from Langford at 22.00/22.05 and the last bus from the City Centre will run at 23.00.
A weekend service will also be introduced, running every two hours.

Service X1 Weston-super-Mare – Bristol
Improved frequency, with buses now running every 15 minutes all through the daytime on weekdays.
Service X1 will also be extended beyond Weston-super-Mare town centre to replace the existing local service 3 from there to Bournville and Searle Crescent ASDA.

Revised timetable - buses will now operate every 20 minutes during weekday daytimes without any 25 minute gaps.

Service Y1 Bristol – Yate & Chipping Sodbury
Service Y1 will be extended to serve The Centre at Bristol rather than Bristol Bus Station, and the timetable will be revised. Buses will drop off and pick up at the stops opposite/beside St Mary on the Quay.
Service Y1 will have a revised timetable to improve punctuality. The diversion via Winterbourne due to the closure of Badminton Road where it crosses the M4 will still be in place. The number of buses between Bristol and Yate will be doubled with the introduction of service Y2 (see below).

Service Y2 Bristol – Yate & Brimsham Park
A new service with a frequency of every 30 minutes Mon-Sat and hourly on Sundays. It connects Bristol to Yate Shopping Centre alongside the Y1, and then serves Brimsham Park and Leechpool Way.

Service Y6 Bristol – Southmead Hospital – Cribbs Causeway – Yate & Chipping Sodbury
The Y6 will have a revised timetable. Between Southmead Hospital and Bristol City Centre, this service will now operate via Henleaze along the 2/2a route, rather than Gloucester Road, providing more buses in the Henleaze area and providing direct links to Southmead Hospital to a wider area. Service 76 will continue to link Gloucester Road to Southmead Hospital directly.
