Using your Welsh Concessionary Travel Card

  1. As you board the bus, simply hold your pass against the ticket machine. Please make sure you remove it from your purse or wallet first as any contactless bank cards could interfere with the reader!
  2. Wait for the beep.
  3. Show your card to the driver to confirm you're the authorised holder.
  4. Take your seat on the bus.
  5. Enjoy your freedom.

Welsh Concessionary Travel Card FAQs

Cards are usable on all of our services, any time of day. Our longer distance Cymru Clipper services and seasonal Cymru Coaster services are also included. 

Anyone that lives in Wales can apply up to 14 days before their 60th birthday. Those with certain disabilities are also eligible, regardless of age, as long as their primary residence is in Wales.

To view the full eligiblity criteria and apply for your pass, please visit the Transport for Wales website. It only takes 10 minutes but you will need to supply your National Insurance number, a recent council tax bill, a digital passport-style photo of yourself and proof of age. If applying for a Disabled Person's pass, you will also have to supply documentation as proof of your disability. 

You might be contacted for more information following your application. If you do not have a phone number or email address, then a friend or relative can apply on your behalf. If this is not possible then you should get in touch with your local council by visiting their local office, a library or community hub. 

If you think your Welsh Concessionary Travel Card is broken, then you should get in touch with Transport for Wales. You can reach them by email at travelcards@tfw.wales or by phone on 03003 034 240. 

If you damage or lose your card, the quickest and easiest way to request a replacement is by logging into your account on the Transport for Wales website or by calling 03003 034 240. You can also visit your local council office, a library or community hub for support.
