Boundary Junction has reopened and all Purple Line services have reverted to their normal routes.

Extensive works will be taking place at the Boundary junction, Norwich (Aylsham Road/Cromer Road/Boundary Road/Mile Cross Lane) between Monday 10th July 2023 and Friday 1st September 2023 to upgrade and replace all traffic signals and carry out various other works.

All Purple Line services will be diverted and details for each route are set out below

Services 36/36A to Horsford/Hellesdon - Services will follow their usual route as far as the junction of Aylsham Road/ Drayton Road, then via Drayton Road, Drayton High Road, Middletons Lane to resume their usual routes on Reepham Road at the Bull PH. Return journeys will operate the same route in reverse.

Service 37 to Hellesdon - Service will follow usual route as far as junction of Aylsham Road/Drayton Road and then via Drayton Road to Boundary Road. Then via City View Road, Samson Road, Hercules Road and Mountfield Avenue to resume the usual route on Reepham Road. Return journeys will operate the same route in reverse.

Service 38 to Ives Road - Service will follow usual route as far as junction of Aylsham Road/Mile Cross Road and then will operate via Woodcock Road and Weston Road. The across the junction to resume the usual route in Vulcan Road South. Return journeys will operate the same route in reverse.

Stops at the following locations will not be served for the duration of these works

  • Reepham Road between Boundary Junction and Mountfield Avenue 
  • Mile Cross Lane between Boundary Junction and Vulcan Road South
  • Aylsham Road between Mile Cross Road and Boundary junction

In addition to potentially longer journey times we anticipate variable traffic congestion in the area and would advise all passengers to allow extra time for their journeys.

We apologise to all customers affected by the diversions arising from this road closure.
