The Colchester Half Marathon is taking place on Sunday 17th March 2024.
Whilst the marathon is underway, roads will be closed on a rolling basis to permit runners safe passage.
The road closures begin at 8.45am and are scheduled to have ended by 13:00. Please note. road closures may re-open earlier depending on how quickly the runners complete sections of the race.
Due to the location of the rolling road closures all Colchester services will likely experience small delays. To manage delays to service the following diversions will be implemented:
The bus stop Southbound called Velder Avenue on St Mary's Road will be closed 6th to 11th March due to road works. Please use an alternative stop at St Mary's Hospital. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused. These works are out of our control and may change at short notice.
St John's St, Colchester will be closed overnight between the hours of 20:00 - 06:00 for roadworks from Monday 13th March to Saturday 23rd March 2024.
Due to the location of the roadworks all Colchester services will likely experience small delays.
The following services will be placed on diversion but all bus stops will be served as normal:

Reason for amendment: Access has been granted to Rowhedge Road, Rowhedge.
Rowhedge Road, Rowhedge will be closed for roadworks from Monday 11th March to Wednesday 13th March 2024 (between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30).
Services S9 & 174/175 will be permitted through the road closure.
Please note: there might be slight delays to service as the bus will be required to wait for an operative to escort them through the closure.
Blackfriars Street will be one way heading to Northfield from 18:30 on 15 March until 18:00 on 17 March
Service 12 heading from Northfield to Bridge Street
From Skene Square:
• 3rd exit at the Woolmanhill roundabout
• continue along Skene Street
• right onto Union Terrace and resume normal route

Services 3,3A,3B,3S heading from Mastrick to Cove
From Anderson Drive:
• 5th exit at the roundabout returning to Anderson Drive
• left onto Ashgrove Road West
• right onto Foresterhill Road and resume the normal route.
