Service C4/X30 | Parkway, Chelmsford | OVERNIGHT road closures

High Street, Stock will be closed from from 08:00hrs to 18:00hrs on Sunday 2nd March 2025. 

Due to the location of the road closure the 300 service will divert in both directions via Radford Way, Mountnessing Road, A129, Chelmsford Road and A12 before returning to normal line of route on Stock Road.

The following bus stop(s) will not be served in both directions:

The Chelmsford Half Marathon is taking place on Sunday 2nd March 2025.

Whilst the marathon is underway, traffic management will be enforced to ensure the safety of race participants. For the duration of the event there will be short traffic holds, bus stops closed, rolling road closures and route diversions. 

The majority of road closures begin at 05:00am and are scheduled to have ended by 13:00. Road closures may re-open early depending on how quickly the runners complete sections of the race.

Due to the location of the event multiple services will experience delays - this will disrupt services in South, Mid and North Essex. Please continue to check this page as we will continue to add information in the lead-up to the event. Last updated 28/02/2025.

SHORT TRAFFIC HOLDS:

There will be short traffic holds, to allow race participants to safely cross the road. 

The following roads will have short traffic holds (between the hours of 08:50 and 09:15):

• Broomfield Road
• Parkway
• Rainsford Road

• Victoria Road South
• New London Road

CLOSED BUS STOPS:

05:00hrs to 13:00hrs - Bus stops on Parkway (between New London Road and the Army and Navy roundabout) will be temporarily closed.

The following bus stops will be closed:

• Parkway
• Army & Navy

For services travelling out of Chelmsford - bus stops will closed and will not be served.

For services travelling into Chelmsford - bus stops will remain open.

ROLLING ROAD CLOSURES & PLANNED DIVERSIONS:

Parkway, Chelmsford is to be closed for overnight roadworks from Thursday 27th February to Thursday 20th March 2025.

The road is to be closed from 21:00hrs each evening and is to re-open from 05:00hrs each morning.

Due to the location of the road closure the C4 and X30 services will be placed on diversion:

C4

Towards Writtle: The C4 service will divert, after Coval Lane, via Parkway, New London Road, Writtle Road and Waterhouse Lane before returning to normal line of route on Beeches Road.

Towards Chelmsford: The C4 service will divert, after serving Ash Tree Cres, via Waterhouse Lane, Writtle Road, New London Road, Parkway and Victoria Road South before returning to normal line of route on Duke Street.

The following bus stops will not be served in both directions:

• Chelmsford Fire Station
• County Hotel

X30

Towards Stansted Airport: The X30 service will divert, after serving Army & Navy, via Victoria Road South, Victoria Road, New Street, Rectory Lane, Parkway and Broomfield Road before returning to normal line of route on Duke Street/Chelmsford Bus Station. All bus stops served.

Towards Southend-on-Sea: Normal line of route - No diversion required. All bus stops served.

London Road, West Thurrock will be closed for roadworks from Sunday 2nd March to Sunday 9th March 2025.

Due to the location of the road closure the 100 service will divert in both directions via Devonshire Road, Elizabeth Road, Arterial Road North Stifford and Arterial Road West Thurrock.

High Bridge Road is closed for overnight roadworks from 20:00hrs on Thursday 27th February and will re-open from 05:00hrs on Friday 28th February 2025.

Due to the location of the road closure the C8, C11 and 73 will be placed on diversion:

C8 / C11

Towards Beaulieu Park: Services C8 and C11 will divert, after serving Parkway, via Odeon Roundabout, Parkway, Victoria Road South and Victoria Road before returning to normal line of route on Springfield Road.

Towards Chelmsford City Centre: Services C8 and C11 will divert, after serving Tesco Store, via Kings Meadow Roundabout, Springfield Road, Victoria Road, Victoria Road South and Market Roundabout before returning to normal line of route at Retail Market (Stop 1) bus stop. 

All bus stops will be served. However, there will likely be delays to service.

Towards Maldon: Service73 will divert, after serving Parkway, via Odeon Roundabout, Parkway, Victoria Road South, Victoria Road, Springfield Road and Kings Meadow Roundabout before returning to normal line of route on Springfield Road.

Towards Chelmsford City Centre: Service 73 will divert, after serving Tesco Store, via Kings Meadow Roundabout, Springfield Road, Victoria Road, Victoria Road South and Market Roundabout before returning to normal line of route at Retail Market (Stop 1) bus stop. 

All bus stops will be served. However, there will likely be delays to service.

Heath Road, Mistley, Manningtree will be closed from Wednesday 26th February to Friday 14th March 2025.

Due to the location of the road closure the 102 and 104 services will divert in both directions via Harwich Road/Jenkin's Hill/Brickman's Lane/Station Road (B1352) and The Street.

Due to the location of the road closure the 694 service will be placed on diversion:

Towards East Bergholt

The 694 service will divert after serving Chapel Road bus stop via Park Lane, A12, Ipswich Road and Dedham Road before turning vehicle at Cage Lane or Carters Hill. Passengers, in Boxted, should board the 694 service at Village Hall bus stop.

Towards Colchester

Passengers, for Boxted, should disembark the 694 service at Village Hall bus stop. The bus will then be placed on diversion and will turn vehicle at Cage Lane or Carters Hill. The 694 service will divert via Dedham Road, Ipswich Road, A12 and Park Lane before returning to normal line of route on Moor Road.

The following bus stops will not be served in both directions:

• Langham Road
• Queen's Head Road
• Anglia Landscapes
• The Cross Inn
• The Wig and Fidgett
• Line Cottages
• Hobbs Drive

Towards Greenstead: Service S5 and 1A will divert, after serving St Andrews Gardens, via Saint Andrew's Avenue, Avon Way and Hawthorn Avenue before terminating journey at Greenstead Library.

Towards Colchester City Centre: Service S5 and 1A will commence journeys at Greenstead Library and will divert via Hickory Avenue, Forest Road, Hawthorn Avenue, Avon Way and Saint Andrew's Avenue before returning to normal line of route at St Andrews Gardens.

The following bus stop(s) will not be served in both directions:

Towards Napier Road: The 16A service will divert after serving Lookers Garage via Roberts Road and Mersea Road, Normandy Avenue, Stalin Road, Roosevelt Way, Barn Hall Avenue, Old Heath Road, Abbot's Road and Mersea Road.

Towards St Helena School: The 16A service will divert after serving Canwick Grove via Old Heath Road, Abbot's Drive, Mersea Road and Robert's Road.

The following bus stops will not be served in both directions:

• Garrison Church (towards Napier Road only)
• Recreation Ground
• Worsnop House
• Scarletts Road
• Barn Hall Avenue (towards Colchester City Centre only)
