Electrical works are currently taking place at Bristol Bus and Coach Station as part of our project that is bringing 98 new zero-emission electric buses to our region. The works are installing the infrastructure for charging the electric buses that use the station, and there will be some temporary changes to stopping arrangements for some services whilst the work takes place.

Bays 15 to 19 will be closed from first bus on Wednesday 26th March until the work is completed, which is expected to be at the end of Friday 4th April. As a result, the following services will temporarily be using stops outside of the bus station: -

Services 39/X39, 172, 349, 374, 375, 376, 376a and 522 will use The Horsefair stops S3 and S5 opposite the Poundland store in Broadmead (near McDonalds). Passengers can also use the Wine Street stop as usual to board services heading toward Temple Meads.

TrawsCymru service T7 (operated by Newport Bus) will drop off passengers on Bond St Stop S1 and then turn around to pick up stop S4 that is located in Front of Fabric Land store.

A map showing the location of the above stops is shown below.

Services A1 (Airport Flyer), X1, X4, X6, X7, X8 and X9 and National Express and FlixBus coach services will not be affected.

We apologise for the disruption these changes will cause and thank our customers for their understanding while these important works are carried out.

We will update this page during the closure period to confirm the completion date as the work progresses.

Passengers are advised that we are expecting disruption to the north of the network this weekend due to the closure of the M4 motorway as a result of the intended demolition of the A4 Badminton Road Bridge near Downend.

Services using the Ring Road, at Hambrook, Filton, Emersons Green and services along the motorway network around Cribbs Causeway may be effected by delays so passengers are advised to check before travel all this weekend.

Overnight Road Closure-The interchange Weston Super Mare-(A3/X1/W7)

Due to ongoing improvement works to the bus interchange at Weston, services will divert overnight to facilitate road widening works.

Buses will not be able to use the interchange and as such will divert Francis Fox Road, Station Road and Carlton Street for the sea front with the A3 service using Francis Fox Road to the train station to terminate and resume.

Regrettably the Interchange stops will not be served during the overnight closure period and passengers are advised there will be new temp stop sited on Station Road behind Tesco's for any intending passengers needed the services.

Due to Bridge Works Cumberland Basin will be closed to northbound traffic nightly from 19:00-06:00 with services diverting to use Coronation Road, Redcliffe and Broad Quay.

Due to additional works on Merchants Road this will mean there will be no  North Somerset services through Hotwells on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th of March, passengers are advised to plan trips accordingly during the closure periods.

Overnight Road Closure-A4174 Ring Road (Westbound)-m3

Due to overnight works the Westbound carriageway of the Ring Road at Bromley Heath will be closed to traffic and as such buses will be diverted from the Willy Wicket to use Badminton Road to Downend, Manor Road at Fishponds then Frenchay Park Road to Stoke Lane Begbrook interchange for M32. This is towards centre only

Passengers are advised that this diversion will add some time to inbound journeys and as such cause some disruption to late night trips on the m3 service.

Passengers are also advised that no stops will be served on the diversion route and any passengers wishing to travel to UWE Frenchay Campus should connect at the Begbrook interchange for onward journeys.

The service 19 is unaffected due to terminating at Downend during the closure period.

Due to resurfacing works Merchants Road will be closed outbound towards Ashton/Avonmouth for several Weeknights in March, alongside the closure of the Cumberland Basin Northbound.

North Somerset services X1-X9 and service U2 will divert from the 17th due to the additional closure of the Cumberland Basin. Buses will divert from The Centre stop C9 (or the first stop Rupert Street B6 for the U2/B4 for the 41) through Broad Quay and via Redcliff Hill and Coronation Road for normal routes at Ashton Bridge (Winterstoke Road bus stop) or the Portway for service 41.

Service 41 will be unaffected by the diversion on Monday the 17th (only) as the Merchants Road works will start on the 18th of March.

Regrettably The Centre stop C7 (41/U2 only), Anchor Road, Gas Ferry Road, Hotwells Road, Merchants Road, College Green (U2 only), Park St Top(U2), Jacobs Wells Road(U2) bus stops will not be served during the closure period.

Please use stops at the Bus Station, The Centre stop C9 or Winterstoke Road for the X1-9; Rupert Street or Winterstoke Road for the U2, or Rupert Street (only) for the 41.

Due to the location of the works service 6/6a and 7 heading toward centre will divert from the bottom of Lansdown Road to use Walcot Street coming down towards Grand Parade for normal route.The service 31 will divert to George Street and turn at Queens Square.
