Worcester Carnival closures and diversions 6 July 2024

Worcester Carnival takes place on Saturday 06 July in Worcester City Centre with many roads closed including Worcester Bridge, The Butts, Sansome Street, City Walls Road, Deansway, College Street, Castle Street and Foregate Street. This means all services running in and out of Worcester City Centre will be starting/terminating in different locations between 1430 and 1700 on this date.

Crowngate Bus Station will be CLOSED between 1430 and 1700 – no services will arrive or depart from here between these times. We are advised that the road may re-open in places earlier than 1700 – if this does occur, we will return to normal route as soon as we can.

A full service breakdown below;

30 Service will start/terminate in the layby on the West side of the river – passengers can alight/board services here. Last service expected from Crowngate will be at 1438 until the road re-opens around 1700.
31 Service will start/terminate in the layby on the West side of the river – passengers can alight/board services here. Last service expected from Crowngate will be at 1415 until the road re-opens around 1700.
44 Service will start/terminate in the layby on the West side of the river – passengers can alight/board services here. Last service expected from Crowngate will be at 1430 until the road re-opens around 1700.

Service will start/terminate in the layby on the West side of the river.

  • 1340 311 service from Clifton-upon-Teme to Worcester will terminate at the river layby.
  • 1425 313 service from Worcester to Clifton-upon-Teme will start from the river layby.
  • 1508 310 service from Clifton-upon-Teme to Worcester will terminate at the river layby.
  • 1600 310 service from Worcester to Clifton-upon-Teme will start from the river layby.

The 1500 Ledbury to Worcester service will terminate at the river layby.

  • 1605 Worcester to Ledbury service will start from the layby. All other services remain unaffected.
27 This service will not operate at 1510 or 1610. All other departures are unaffected.
32 Service will start/terminate in Sidbury inbound and The Albion bus stop outbound. City Walls Road, St. Nicholas’ Street, Crowngate Bus Station and the Cathedral bus stops will not be served.
28/45 Service will start/terminate in Sidbury. City Walls Road, St. Nicholas’ Street, Crowngate Bus Station and the Cathedral bus stops will not be served.
X50 Services towards Evesham at 1510 and 1610 will start from Sidbury. Service towards Worcester arriving between 1430 and 1700 will use London Road, then Battenhall Road, Timberdine Avenue and Bath Road to terminate in Sidbury. City Walls Road, St. Nicholas’ Street, Crowngate Bus Station and the Cathedral bus stops will not be served.
34 Service will start/terminate in Lowesmoor. Crowngate Bus Station & Sansome Street will not be served during this closure. Last service expected from Crowngate will be at 1436 until the road re-opens around 1700.
35 Service will start/terminate in Lowesmoor. Crowngate Bus Station & Sansome Street will not be served during this closure. Last service expected from Crowngate will be at 1447 until the road re-opens around 1700.
38 Service will start/terminate in Lowesmoor. Crowngate Bus Station & Sansome Street will not be served during this closure. Last service expected from Crowngate will be at 1425 until the road re-opens around 1700.

The 1530 departure from Crowngate Bus Station to Royal Hospital will start from St. George’s Square bus stop on Barbourne Road. The 1455 arrival into Crowngate from the Royal Hospital will terminate on The Tything. Foregate Street and Little London will not be served on both mentioned journeys.

SERVICE 144 – Departures from Crowngate will be as follows;

  • 1440 to Catshill will depart from Crowngate normally.
  • 1500 to Catshill will start from The Tything – will not serve Crowngate Bus Station and Foregate Street.
  • 1520 to Catshill will start from St. George’s Square bus stop on Barbourne Road. Service will not be able to serve Crowngate, Foregate Street, The Tything or Little London.
  • 1540 to Catshill will depart Crowngate normally.
144 arriving into Worcester at 1450, 1510 and 1530 will terminate on The Tything and will not be able to serve Foregate Street or Crowngate Bus Station.
675/676 unaffected by this closure and can operate normal route subject to any other diversions in place at the time.
Diamond 294/296 services will start/terminate at river layby on the West of the City.
Diamond 303 service will terminate on The Tything, and restart at Checketts Lane, Ombersley Road towards Kidderminster.

There will be extra staff on hand at Lowesmoor, river layby in St. John’s and in Crowngate to answer customer questions. These are approximate timings to close and re-open roads given to us by Worcestershire County Council in co-ordination with Worcester Carnival and are subject to change at very short notice. All on the day communications will be done via X through Customer Services when roads close/re-open.

At the time of writing we have no information on services operated by Astons Coaches [332], Diamond [149], LMS Travel [21/24/423/356] or Kev’s Coaches [355].
