Elland Road Park & Ride is Just the Ticket for Passenger Growth

In June 2014 Elland Road Park and Ride saw 200 cars parked there in its first week, however, by its first anniversary more than 68,000 cars had been parked and 150,000 passenger journeys made.

By early 2016 the existing 425-space car park has been frequently filled to capacity and a new, surfaced overspill car park with over 100 marked out spaces, floodlighting, CCTV coverage and pedestrian access point was opened.

In a successful partnership agreement, Leeds City Council made the land available and developed it with funding from the Combined Authority, while First Bus provides high quality bus services.

Branded, frequent buses operated by First Bus provide a shuttle service into the city centre every 10 minutes whilst commuters can stay connected with complimentary on-board Wi-Fi.

With customer satisfaction ratings above 99%, the partners have agreed a further expansion plan for later in 2016 that will include 375 additional spaces and a new, heated customer waiting facility.

In light of the Elland Road scheme’s success a further 1,000-space park and ride is being developed at Temple Green in east Leeds through West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s £1bn Growth Deal Transport Fund with services being provided by First Bus.
