In Henbury, the legs of both routes will swap over. The 3 will now run via Crow Lane and Wyck Beck Road instead of the 4, and the 4 will now run via Station Road past Tormarton Crescent stops instead of the 3. This is to provide better coordination of frequency (spacing of buses) along the whole route, as it makes both routes take the same amount of time end-to-end. The unique routeings through Stoke Bishop and Sea Mills will remain as they are now.

We are pleased to announce we are increasing the frequency of buses between Gloucester Road, Filton Avenue and Bristol Parkway Station from September, as well as between the City Centre and Hengrove via Bedminster and Melvin Square.
-
Service 74 will now serve Bristol Parkway every 15 minutes during the day, and will extend to Bradley Stoke every 30 minutes, much like the 73 does currently.
-
This is part of a package of changes to our 70-series of buses, with the enhanced 74 complementing changes to the 70 and 73. The package seeks to enhance frequencies to Bristol Parkway, enhance reliability and improve service coordination along Filton Avenue. These changes are explained in more detail below:
-
Service 70 will continue to operate between UWE Frenchay, Filton Avenue, Ashley Down, Cromwell Road, Stokes Croft and the City Centre. Please note, at UWE Frenchay, buses will now operate from Stand A1 rather than Stand B. South of The Centre, buses will operate to and from Temple Meads Station via Redcliffe Way, with the section of route to Hengrove via Bedminster swapped onto service 74. This allows an increase in frequency on the City Centre – Bedminster – Melvin Square – Hengrove section from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes, and also restores the link between Temple Meads Station forecourt and UWE via Ashley Down on Sundays.
-
Service 74 will now start from Hengrove Bus Depot instead of Temple Meads Station, and follow the same route as the 70 currently does via Melvin Square and Bedminster to the City Centre. As per above, the frequency on this section of route will be increased from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes from September. Buses on the 74 will then operate via Stokes Croft, Gloucester Road and Filton Avenue as before, but after the MOD Roundabout, will operate to and from Bristol Parkway Station instead of to UWE Frenchay. This will double the frequency between Gloucester Road, Filton Avenue and Bristol Parkway Station compared to the current service 73.
-
The 74 will replace this section of the 73 route (please see below), with every other bus on Monday – Saturday daytimes and all journeys on evenings and Sundays extending beyond Bristol Parkway to Bradley Stoke North via Brook Way and Willow Brook Centre. Customers travelling between Filton Avenue and UWE Frenchay should use service 70, and customers travelling between Glocuester Road and UWE Frenchay can use services 70, 72 or 73.
Please refer to the table below and the new maps and timetables for more clarity on the new routes.
