Affordable Fares scheme in Stoke-on -Trent is set to continue for a further 6 months.   

The affordable fares scheme that was introduced in July 2023 which heavily discounted the SMART bus tickets has been a huge success and will continue until 31 March 2025.

Bus passengers travelling around Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle can continue to make the most of low-cost bus travel.

To make the most of the government funding, new ticket prices are being introduced from Sunday 13 October.

£2 single fares will continue to be available. You can buy your tickets on board from any driver or from operator's apps.

The Young Person's ticket is available to anyone under 19

Children under five and concessionary travel pass holders will continue to travel free of charge (after 9.30am on weekdays and all day at weekends and public holidays).

It's the first of a number of bus service improvements which are set to be introduced in Stoke-on-Trent over the next three years as part of a £31.6 million investment.


Smart tickets are valid the full route of our services except for:

  • Route 103 between Red Bull crossroads & Crewe
  • Route 18 between Endon fountain & Leek
  • Route 101 between Tittensor Winghouse Lane & Stafford
