Visit Essex

Visit Essex is the official tourism and destination management organisation for Greater Essex.

Tourism is one of the largest business sectors in Essex contributing £3.3 billion annually to the region’s economy and employs 63,000 people. Visit Essex’s principal purpose is to work in partnership with the public and private sector businesses to support economic growth, through promotion and tourism development.  

Visit Essex is a membership led organisation and works closely with over 200 Essex businesses to promote the county on a local, national, and international level. In 2023 they received Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) status from VisitEngland, which means they now have access to resources and stakeholders that allows them to shape and grow the visitor economy for Essex better than ever before.

Encouraging sustainable travel

With a focus on sustainability Essex’s new Destination Management Plan, which is being led by Visit Essex, will look at reducing carbon footprint, encouraging sustainable travel and healthy lifestyles. Visit Essex are working closely with First Bus to encourage and showcase positive travel experiences across the county.
