First Bus Essex is thrilled to announce its official sponsorship of Basildon Pride 2024, taking place on Saturday 7 September next to Basildon Sporting Village in Gloucester Park, Basildon.

As an organisation that values diversity and inclusivity, First Bus Essex is proud to support the LGBTQ+ community and join the festivities at Essex's largest free entry Pride.

"At First Bus, pride means embracing diversity and inclusivity," said Piers Marlow, Managing Director of First Bus East of England. "Our rainbow bus is more than just transportation; it symbolises our support for LGBTQ+ communities."

This year’s Basildon Pride promises to be a fun-filled day out for the whole family whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or not. Everyone is welcome.

The festival kicks off with a 1.5mile loud and proud Pride Parade now in its fourth year. It will start from outside Sports Direct/the former Toys R'Us building in Basildon Town Centre which winds its way through Town Square and closes Broadmayne for a short period to safely cross before making its way to the festival site in Gloucester Park. Guests can look forward to enjoying high quality musicians, dancers, Drag Queens, Drag Kings and top quality Abba, George Michael and Dua Lipa Tribute acts across the festival's two stages. There is also a food court, fairground, chill-out zone, Discovery Hub and an interactive area called The Zone where you can try your hand at theatre workshops and circus skills.

“First Bus is proud to be an official sponsor for Basildon Pride which we have been proud to do since 2019,” added Piers. “We are committed to supporting the LGBTQ+ community and promoting a message of love, acceptance, and equality.”

Attendees of Basildon Pride will be able to ride free of charge on our special Pride Bus in both directions from Basildon Bus Station to the nearest bus stop on Upper Mayne (where the festival can then be accessed with a short signposted walk)

Matt Winslow, Basildon Pride Project Director, said: “Basildon Pride is one of the biggest free events in the local calendar to celebrate and stand-up for equality, inclusion and diversity. Whether its your first trip to a Pride or if you have visited others and regardless of how you identify your gender or sexual orientation everyone is welcome to come along, be your true self, take it all in and most of all have a great and memorable day out.
