North Essex Service Change from 16th April 2023
From Sunday 16th April 2023, we are making some changes to your bus networks across the county, designed to ensure we continue to meet changes in customers travels patterns and demands and deliver reliable services for our customers into the future.
Colchester Shuttles
Route S1 Highwoods Tesco to Wivenhoe Station: On Monday to Friday, an additional journey will run from Wivenhoe to Highwoods, leaving at 14:52. The evening service is revised on all days of the week with an additional journey from Wivenhoe to Colchester on Saturday leaving at 22:35, and later buses running from Highwoods to Colchester on Sunday evening.
Route S2 Highwoods Tesco to Stanway Sainsburys: On Monday to Friday, an additional journey will run from Colchester Osborne Street to Sainsburys, leaving at 07:40, and from Head Street to Highwoods, leaving at 15:02. On Sunday, the 21:30 from Stanway will terminate at Head Street.
Route S4 Colchester to Greenstead: The frequency of route S4 will be increased to every 8 to 10 minutes on Monday to Friday, and up to every 10 minutes on Saturdays. The Sunday timetable will continue to run every 20 minutes
Route S9 Colchester to Rowhedge: A revised timetable will run on Monday to Saturday, with some weekday morning and late afternoon journeys and most Monday to Saturday evening journeys extending to and from Colchester Station.
Essex Bus
Route 4 Stanway Sainsburys to Hythe Tesco: Minor revisions to the timetable. The 08:55 from Stanway extends through to Hythe Tesco. An additional journey will run towards Stanway, departing from James Carter Road to at 09:21. The 14:35 from Hythe Tesco extends through to Stanway.
Route 16A Colchester Napier Road to St Helena School: The afternoon is retimed to improve the punctuality of the service
Route 82, 82A, 82B Colchester to Colne Engaine: The Monday to Friday timetable is revised, with the first two journeys of the day starting earlier than they do at present, to allow more time for the journeys to be completed to improve the punctuality of the service. The first journey from Colchester (82A) will leave at 07:25 and the first bus from Wakes Colne (82) will leave at 08:00. An additional afternoon journey will run between Stanway and Colchester, leaving at 15:37.
Route 87, 87u Horkesley Heath to Brightlingsea via University of Essex: A revised daily timetable will operate, with an improved off-peak daytime service to Brightlingsea and revised times in the morning and afternoon peak periods to improve the punctuality of the service. The morning journey from Brightlingsea which extends to the schools in Lexden Road and Norman Way will leave 5 minutes earlier at 07:15. Journeys which terminate at the University of Essex instead of continuing to Wivenhoe or Brightlingsea will show the number 87u on the front of the bus.
Route 174, 175 Colchester to Fingringhoe (circular): The timetable is revised, with the daytime journeys evenly spaced to leave Colchester every hour, alternating as either a route 174 or route 175 bus.
All other services are unchanged.
