Here at First South Yorkshire, we strive to deliver a reliable, safe, and punctual service for all our customers as your journey is at the heart of everything we do.

At First Bus, it’s a collaborative approach to get our buses out on the road, with support from our depot teams including supervisors, operations, engineering, and staff managers, and Commercial, who work hard to ensure your journey operates smoothly every day.

We work in partnership with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority to ensure everyone in South Yorkshire receives a good quality service, with well-maintained bus stops, interchanges and local highways.

To gain a better understanding of the service we provide in South Yorkshire, we will be sharing our punctuality rates for the region, which will be updated on this page.

Latest punctuality data for South Yorkshire

*The data shown is during the period 25th February - 30th March. The data shown above measures how many times the bus departed a timed bus point within five minutes of the advertised time.

The issues impacting performance in this period included road works, gas main replacements, and several road closures across our routes.

South Yorkshire are making many changes to prioritise public transport. For example, the movement of enforcing more bus lanes across the regions is to prioritise bus users, which will effectively help more people get to their destination on time.

Jargon buster

*Punctuality = this is a percentage measure of how many times the bus departed a timing bus point bus stop within five minutes of the advertised time. E.g the bus stops shown in our timetables are timing bus points.

*Reliability = Referring to how many advertised journeys were operated.

Punctuality/reliability can be impacted by several factors which are often out of our control. We strive to be on time, but sometimes the road can throw some obstacles our way. Like all traffic on the road, our buses can be delayed by road works, diversions, or poorly parked vehicles.
